Welcome...
As a provider of the Sensory Learning Program I consider it a privilege to be able to offer this unique intervention to the Southeastern Kentucky and surrounding area. The Sensory Learning Center has been enhancing the lives of individuals with sensory processing problems and learning difficulties for over ten years.
The Sensory Learning Center of Southeastern Kentucky is located midway between Lexington, Ky. and Knoxville, Tenn. The Sensory Learning Program is an innovative approach to developmental learning and unites three modalities (visual, auditory, and vestibular) into one intervention allowing individuals to better integrate sensory messages.
The center opened its doors in April 2006 after my own experience with the Sensory Learning Program. My son, Jonah, was a participant in the program in 2005. He was diagnosed with autism at 3.5 years of age in September 2002. He was 6 years old when he went through the program and our family saw changes in many ways. Instead of Jonah using a rehearsed dialogue that he had been taught, Jonah started interjecting his thoughts and his ideas. He got up from the computer to play with his sister because he wanted interaction. His transitions were much smoother, his meltdowns less intense and less frequent. There was time to talk to him about the thing that was distressing to him. His sleep became deeper, toilet training was 100% completed even through the night. Jonah has continued to improve and just recently took another developmental leap in social skills. While I home schooled Jonah in first grade, he is eager to start public school in August 2006. As a Speaker and former public school teacher who has worked with autistic children in my classroom and as a consultant to other teachers in other school systems I feel confident Jonah will be able to enter second grade with little difficulty.
Sincerely,

"We are writing to express our gratitude for the extra effort you put forward with our son Mathieu during the Sensory Learning Program. We were very impressed with the amount of care and attention you gave him. When the home maintenance portion of the program wasn’t going as planned, you thought outside the limits of normal protocol and accommodated Mathieu without hesitation.
Now, we’re beginning to see results. After only a few days at preschool, Mathieu’s teacher commented that he is much calmer and more attentive in class. Also, Mathieu is potty training through his own initiative. He is speaking words we’ve never heard him use before and going back to seemingly retrace steps with his new found way to viewing the world.
Overall, we feel like you have given Mathieu a springboard for future learning. Thank you for taking a genuine interest in his success. Your care and understanding made the difference."
Sincerely,
Teri and Peter Bussiere
